Anxiety and depression are two of the most common mental health challenges in the United States. Frequently, they leave us with a sense of disconnection. This class seeks to explore these two states and how spirituality can provide resiliency and protective factors. This exploration will encourage you to integrate a variety of coping skills and practices into your daily repertoire and explore your own spirituality.
Take Action Program for Weight Management is a highly successful 12-week program for people who want to lose weight and keep it off. The program combines a personalized fitness profile with a body composition measurement, personal exercise training session, nutrition consultation with a resting metabolism measurement and an integrative health and wellness coaching session. Twelve weekly group sessions cover topics including nutrition, fitness and overall wellness. A comprehensive Take Action manual is provided for ongoing reference.

The term "spirituality" is somewhat recently popularized. It is common to hear someone say, "I’m a spiritual person." However, the exact definition(s) or practice(s) associated with spirituality can be elusive, leading us to ask some pertinent questions. For example, how do spirituality and religion differ? What does healthy spirituality look like? Is there such a thing as "unhealthy spirituality?" We will explore these and other ways to cultivate a healthy perspective on spirituality and practices that enliven us.

THIS CLASS IS BEING OFFERED ONLINE ONLY. ***Allina Participants must attend 5 of 6 classes LIVE to avoid being charged for the full class.*** Resilience is the process of adapting well in the face of significant sources of stress - such as family and relationship problems, serious health problems or workplace and financial stressors. It means "bouncing back" from difficult experiences. Resilience is not a trait that people either have or do not have-we all have aspects of resilience. The behaviors, thoughts and actions that build resilience can be learned and developed in anyone.
Neuroscience posits making art has a positive effect on the brain, but it does not qualify the various types of art that benefit us. In this session, we will consider what types of art can be created to serve our resilience and celebrate the wonders that mark art has on our communities and society. Art could be just what you need right now.
This mindful eating program is based on the work of Dr. Michelle May, author of Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat. This eight-week workshop is designed to help individuals change their relationship with food forever as they learn to take charge of eating habits and change their mindset towards food and physical activity. Must attend 7 of 8 classes LIVE to avoid paying full class fee.

From medically focused to complementary based treatment modalities, there are many resources that may be woven into a holistic approach to treating anxiety. This class will explore a range of modalities that can meet the individual needs of those with mild or situation-based anxiety to pervasive generalized anxiety disorders or acute panic attacks.

Have you ever been in a crowded room, and still felt alone? Loneliness has been labeled an epidemic in the United States, with many of us feeling stuck in the fog of disconnection. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated our experience of real, and perceived, isolation. In this course, we will explore where loneliness comes from, how loneliness impacts our bodies and spirits, and what loneliness can teach us about our core human need for connection. We will also explore concrete strategies you can use for building healing connection with yourself, and the world around you.

When crisis strikes, what emerges in us and those around us? Do we yearn for connection? Solitude? What brings us comfort? What causes disconnection? In this class, we will explore several common human reactions to crisis, both in groups and in individuals. We will also think about our own existential, physical, and emotional needs when we find ourselves in crisis.
